GIFT
is
defined as: “Present, a thing given, a donation, to bestow.”
(Romans 6:23) “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of
God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Titus 3:5)
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according
to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing
of the Holy Ghost.”
GIFT
infers
that someone purchased it and extended it to the receiver for his/her
benefit. (Romans 5:8) “But God commendeth his love toward us,
in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (I Corinthians
15:3) “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also
received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;”
GIFT
must be received in order to complete their purpose. (John 1:12) “But
to as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons
of God, even to them that believe on his name.” (Acts 16:32) “And
they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his
house.”
GIFT
rejection
results in eternal consequences. (John 3:18) “He that believeth
on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already,
because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of
God.” (Hebrews 9:27) “And it is appointed unto men once
to die, but after this the judgment.”
If
you are willing to acknowledge to God your sinfulness, repent of (turn
from) your sins, and trust what Christ did on the cross in dying for
your sins personally, and call upon Him to be your Saviour, you can
be saved. (Romans 10:13) “For whosoever shall call upon the name
of the Lord shall be saved.”
